Artist Statement

I have made the creation of visual works my life long commitment.

The process begins with an idea for a piece, real or imaginary. Then, I search out locations for subject matter to be used. The work proceeds through a series of sketches to a full-size drawing which is transferred to the canvas. My technique for the paintings involves building up areas of color through the application of many thin layers of transparent oil paint. This achieves a luminous effect with vibrant color. My paintings capture a source of light and realism that has impressed collectors from Maine to California.

I am available for commissioned work from portraits to murals.

looking forward . . .

Thanks for all the kind words and appreciation of my work . . . this weekend plans to be an exciting one. I'm going to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with a friend, and plan on starting a very large painting that I feel will open up a new, exciting area for me. Art is an organic thing, it needs room to grow.
